I ran across the community gardens at Clackamas Community College by accident. I was asked by my dad to walk the dog for him, and I was asked by a friend for a ride to the college at almost the same time.

So I grabbed the dog and went and picked up my friend. I dropped my friend off for a class and I was going to take my parent’s dog to a park to walk him when I decided to walk him around the college instead.

Lo and behold we (the dog and I) ended up running across the gardens. Out of curiosity I decided to call and see what it was all about.

What I learned about my local community gardens

I found out that it was $40.00 a year for a plot that was approximately 20’x20′ and I could take a tour of them if I wanted. So a few days later, I toured and committed. Perhaps I should be committed, gardening is not my thing.

I already knew I wanted to grow a type of corn that I am told was grown by the Aztecs, I’ll go into my plant decisions in another post. Other than that, and I wasn’t fully committed to the corn, I really didn’t know what exactly I’d plant. Something really low maintenance if I’m smart. I’m often not though. 🙂
